My hubby and I have really been enjoying our weekly outfit of the day photo shoots. So much so that even if I’m not able to shoot before Wednesday, we make a point of finding time to shoot later in the week. That’s what happened this week.

I like to think of our shoots as bonding time. He’s boosting his photography skills, and I’m re-learning how to be comfortable in front of the camera, no matter who is around. When he saw this week’s outfit, he suggested an outdoorsy setting to match, and after going through all the pics, I dare say that was an awesome suggestion.

We took these photos on a super casual day. We had errands to run, appointments to keep, and had planned a walk in the park, so the day warranted an outfit long on comfort and put together just well enough to look styled rather than accidental. And that would allow me to climb trees and walk through dirt-covered trails.

I had been looking for an army jacket at thrift stores for weeks, to no avail. So when I ventured into Old Navy on Black Friday with my mom, daughter and sister-in-law, I was old too happy to scoop up this shirt from the men’s clearance rack. Not exactly a vintage army jacket, but definitely close (and heavy) enough. Perfect for this casual fall day — just cool enough to require covered arms, but not so cold that I needed a heavy coat.

I paired it with these Gap jeans that I’ve had in my closet for years that couldn’t fit. Imagine my surprise when I pulled them out of hiding only to discover that they currently fit like a glove! Thank you Cinch!

Finally, I accessorized with my awesomely rugged new boots, courtesy of Timberland, a studded belt that I’ve had forever, and a brand new knitted beret that I love with a passion (thanks Mommy!).

And now, some family pics. My daughter and I playing peek-a-boo around a tree.
