OOTD: A Little Lace

I’m more than a little late with this one, but forgive me. Today has been a long day :)  I’ve had this dress in my closet for a while, waiting for the right time to wear it. A crisp, but not too cool, fall day this past weekend gave me the perfect excuse.

I went for a full on vintage look with lace and (faux) leather — which I LOVE together — and a blown out fro. I felt like people were staring at my hair, but like naturalistas like to say: “Big hair don’t care.” 🙂

I got my photo shoot on with my daughter and hubby at the park, feeling girly and glam in this outfit.

I almost never wear tights or stockings of any kind, but I’m glad I did in this case. I was surprised by how warm my legs were.

I’ve really been digging dresses and skirts lately, which is sort of unfortunate since it will soon be too cold to cover my legs only with tights. But living in Georgia, I should have at least a few more weeks during which I can get away with skirts, and I’ll probably push the limits (and my ability to withstand the cold) so I can wear what I want, when I want. I’m dressing for the day I want to have, remember?

DETAILS:

Old Navy faux leather jacket | Target dress & belt (similar with sleeves) | Target Boots | Target clutch  |  Thrifted statement necklace | Claw cuff bracelet from Instafashion.com | Spike bracelet from Forever 21 (similar) (aff)

  1. i saw this picture on instagram and just said YES! i love the whole vintage vibe with new, affordable pieces and your hair is just beautiful!

i can’t believe you’re just getting into tights – i think you can go farther into the winter in skirts with the right warm leggings and tights 🙂

    love seeing you here!

    1. Thanks Abby! The crazy thing is that when I did my hair, I wasn’t even thinking about how it would create the whole “vintage” look, but as soon as I looked in the mirror with everything on, I fell in love with it. And trust me when I say I’m adding a LOT more tights to my collection. I couldn’t believe how warm I was!

  2. Absolutely adore your outfit. Just too cute. And that color is perfect on you.

I’m trying to embrace my natural hair too and sometimes it’s just too much. I don’t know why I feel that way. Well, I guess because I straightened it for so long that now it feels like “statement” hair. :-/ But I do love the curls.

    1. Thank you! I realized that I’ve unintentionally worn this color or something very similar quite a few times in the last couple of weeks. I guess I’m just drawn to it 🙂

Embracing your natural hair definitely takes some getting used to, but once you do, you’ll wonder what took you so long 🙂
