Green Deal Alert: Organic Kids’ Clothes at Gilt Groupe

I am forever on the hunt for affordable, eco-friendly clothes for my ever-growing 5-year old daughter. But as much as I love supporting small companies that make organic kids’ clothing, I often can’t afford to spend $40 on a single shirt that will only fit her for a few months. So I support those same retailers when their items are on sale, when I have coupon codes, or when I have a little extra spending money. So when I find organic kids’ apparel at Gilt Groupe for greatly discounted prices, I jump on it.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Gilt Groupe is an online-only retailer that offers typically high-end products for seriously reduced prices, but only for a limited time. The sales typically last 24-96 hours, so if you see something you need (not want), you need to act fast. In other words, if you were planning to buy some clothes for your little one anyway, this is a great opportunity to take advantage of lower prices, though I’d never recommend buying anything just because it’s on sale.

These gorgeous printed pieces by Winter Water Factory are perfect for fall and winter (though their name makes me wonder if they make any pieces for spring and summer :). My favorites are the hoodies and dresses, which would be pretty cute as tunics over jeans when it gets really cold. I’m all about multi-functional pieces. The sale also includes lap-neck tees, onesies and blankets for infants.

This sale ends at noon Wednesday (10/27/10), so if you’re interested, don’t wait too long.

Why It’s Green:

  • Printed on 100% organic
  • Made in the U.S.

How to Buy:

If you’re not already a member of Gilt Groupe, you’ll have to sign up. Once you’ve registered and signed in, mouse over “Children” in the top navigation menu, then click “Winter Water Factory: Modern Organic Kids Apparel.”

(aff): If you sign up for Gilt Group via my invitation link, I will receive a credit if you make a purchase.

    1. Danielle, I’m with you on not trying to be a big consumer. But I definitely keep my eye out for deals on green products I would’ve been buying anyway 🙂
