A few weeks ago, the best thing ever happened. If you follow fashion blogs, you absolutely must know Nicolette Mason. She’s one of the top fashion bloggers, and I’ve been following her for years. I was so excited to learn she had designed a fashion collection with ModCloth, and I’d been drooling over the photos as they were released. One night, I spied a photo on IG calling for her followers to enter a giveaway for the entire collection.
I mean, how could I pass up that chance? So I threw my name in the hat, sharing my #FashionTruth, and crossed my fingers.
Imagine my complete surprise a few days later to learn that I had won! As in Every. Single. Item. In the whole collection. I swear, I did cartwheels in my bedroom. Not really, but I did jump up and down and squeal so loudly and for so long that my daughter came upstairs to make sure I was OK.
My favorite piece in the collection is the aptly named Nicolette dress, which basically sums up Nicolette’s style in one piece. Pink, fancy, girly, gorgeous. As soon as I tried it on, I knew how I wanted to style it.
You see, heels are not really my friends, and this dress makes me want to prance and twirl. Can’t do that in uncomfortable shoes. Instead, I paired it with a pair of fishnets and my studded combat boots from last winter. Of course, I couldn’t do the combat boots without a (faux) leather jacket. I bought this one specifically for this outfit, and I know it will get a lot of use this winter.
I am SO happy with the way this outfit and these photos turned out, and I can’t wait to rock the rest of the collection for you! It’s all fabulous, and every piece is available in sizes from XS to 4X (though some sizes are already sold out). My experience is that the pieces in structured fabric (like the dresses and button down top) are true to the ModCloth size chart, while the items with some stretch (like the gray sweatshirt and short black skirt) required me to size down for an accurate fit.
What’s your favorite piece?
