I’m finally past the halfway point in this pregnancy, and I think I’m starting to hit my stride. There are still some smells and tastes that I can’t tolerate, but for the most part, my taste buds and gag reflex have finally returned to normal. Thank goodness. I was beginning to think I’d never be able to enjoy drinking anything but water and apple juice for the rest of my pregnancy.
In other news, I think I’m finally beginning to look pregnant. But I may be biased because I’m seeing my body every day. It largely depends on what I wear, but I definitely feel like I’m showing more. I guess I’m at that stage where a stranger might wonder if I was pregnant or just big. But to the people who know me and see me every day, it’s pretty obvious. See for yourself:
My second princess is definitely starting to take up more room in there, and she is clearly getting well acquainted with her limbs and reflexes, because she loves to move around.
All in all, though, I’m just enjoying the way my body is changing throughout this process. My chest has actually gotten bigger more quickly than my stomach, so I’m going to have to buy some new bras soon, and I finally broke down and bought some maternity clothes and some non-maternity pieces that are stretchy enough to accommodate my growing middle — some of it new, some if it from a kids & maternity consignment store. These jeggings were one of my new purchases, though I’m still iffy on the color and wash.
The most important thing is that I’m feeling good, and not yet at the point where I’m wishing the pregnancy would be over — which I’m sure will happen eventually. For now, I’ll enjoy my increased energy and hope that it lasts as long as possible. My biggest complaint is that I’m having serious heartburn, but I’m trying a few home remedies this week, like apple cider vinegar and papaya enzyme tablets thanks to tips from some Facebook friends, so hopefully, I find something that works for me.
Speaking of body changes, I recently did an interview with Ivy La Artista, the creator of See Body. Love Self. This is a movement about self love and body positivity, and I’m so happy to be a part of it! My interview is about body image and how I’ve learned to love myself even as my body fluctuates — because of this pregnancy as well as before. Please check it out and let me know what you think.
See you next week, when I’ll finally share the name we’ve chosen for our little girl!
