Pssst! I Have a Secret!

Ever since I won a photo shoot with the awesome Kahran and Reg Bethencourt of CreativeSoul Photography waaay back in the summer of 2010, I’ve been itching to shoot with them again. Well, I finally got my chance last weekend, this time with my husband and daughter, and for a very special reason. My family had a secret to reveal, and we wanted to do it in a really special way. CreativeSoul completely “got” that and blew us away with their creativity in our secret reveal.

Are you dying from anticipation yet? Check out this video to find out what all the whispering is about (Spoiler Alert: If you’re a Facebook friend, you may already know the secret):

Just in case you didn’t watch the video (gasp!), I’m going to make you scroll before I say any more.

Ok, now that I’m satisfied I haven’t ruined it for you, or at least made it harder for you to ruin it for yourself by skipping ahead, I can say more. Finally, now that my daughter is 8 years old…

Yes. We’re excited. In fact my daughter thinks a baby brother or sister = magic, and she can’t stop thinking or talking about the baby. Let’s hope that excitement lasts when her 8 years of having mom and dad to herself comes to an abrupt end.

I’m 16 weeks pregnant as of today, so we still have a long way to go. So if you noticed I have been a bit slow with blog posts and that outfit posts have been all but nonexistent for the past few months, now you know why. My first trimester left me nauseous, exhausted and unable to focus for long periods of time. Now that I’ve hit my second trimester, a lot of that has subsided. Thank you baby Jesus.

All that to say I’m hoping to get back to business in the very near future. Which will mean the occasional baby bump update (I’m not showing very much yet), and maybe even some mama/baby product reviews and giveaways.  I also plan to start doing outfit posts again while everything in my closet can still fit, and continue with some maternity outfits once they don’t. We shall see how that all unfolds.

In the meantime, I’ll keep you busy with some of the gorgeous (and hilarious) images from our photo shoot:

She has perfected the side-eye, especially when daddy starts doing the robot.

I think the two photos above perfectly sum up the way my husband and I are with each other. I swear, we’re still like teenagers.

We had the good fortune to shoot these during her birthday weekend, so it was a great time all the way around.

How perfect was that “Atlanta Made” sign for a baby announcement?

The photo above is my absolute favorite photo from the entire shoot (though there are a lot of close seconds).

Thanks again to CreativeSoul! They are honestly some of the illest photographers in the game (and in Atlanta, in case you want to book a shoot of your own), and we absolutely love working with them. Head over to their website (I’m patting myself on the back a little here, since I designed it), and check out their work. It’s all amazing.

  1. OHHHH Myyy goooodness!!! Congratulations to you and your family!! Beautiful photos. My favorite happens to be the one that is you favorite too. Love the poses and the smiles 🙂

  2. YAYYYYYY!!!!! I’m soooo thrilled for you Jennae. Sorry it took me so long, but as you know I’m taking a major break from FB, so this was the first I’ve known. You all must be totally over the moon. And what a fun way to make the announcement. Corey and I are THRILLED for you all three. What a lucky baby! Hugs from across the continent. Hope you feel wonderful for the rest of the pregnancy.

    1. Thank you and Corey! We are incredibly excited! It was somewhat unexpected, but we couldn’t be happier about finally adding to the family. I’m feeling a lot more energetic and focused than I was just a few weeks ago, so that’s a good sign 😉

  3. I’m a new reader and follower of your blog but I love babies! That means I had to come out of lurk to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well!

  4. Wow, I’m SO late, lol! How did I miss this? Thanks so much for the shout out! We were happy to be a part of your big announcement. Now waiting with anticipation for the next few months … 🙂

  5. I am a new follower and I am impressed! Your photo shoot video was outstanding, your family looks so close and loving. When you stood on the chair with the arrow at your tummy I felt my excitement grow…and when you smoothed your dress over your “bump” I actually got tears in my eyes! Even though I kinda guessed what your secret was I still felt a tug at my heart for you and your family. I look forward to reading many more posts and sharing your life however vicariously.
    Ta Ta for now,

    * please stop by my blogs and tell me what you think*

  6. CONGRATULATIONS!! My daughter and my son are 9 years and two weeks apart so I know exactly where you’re at!! Can’t wait to follow along for more of your journey!!

Fellow BLM girl stopping by and LOVING what I’ve found!!

Also – your hubby’s dance moves are legit. The end.
