I don’t know if you can tell, but I can’t WAIT for spring! The weather in Georgia is a big tease. We’ll have a day or two in the 60s, but then it will drop back down to the 30s and even 20s for a full week just to remind me that we’re not there yet. This week, I decided that if spring wouldn’t come to me, I’d create my own spring with my outfit.

This dress is a big statement about how far I’ve come in terms of body confidence. Not only does it feature a very bold, noticeable floral print, but it’s also a body con dress — something I NEVER would’ve worn a year ago. I never thought I could feel comfortable, or even less, confident, in something so form fitting, but you know what? I felt beautiful and sexy.

The length of the dress was a bit awkward for me, as it hit me at mid-calf. I couldn’t decide what shoes to wear, and nothing looked “right” — until I put on my favorite Aerosoles riding boots. They felt like the perfect complement to the dress and kept me warm on a chilly not-yet-spring day.

I needed something special, so I added a neon pink crossbody bag from Target that I am absolutely in LOVE with. It’s not as big as my typical everyday bags, but I can carry all the necessities. And frankly, it’s cute enough to make me leave all of the “stuff” I usually carry in my larger purses at home.

Seriously though, spring needs to get a move on. I already have at least a handful of warm weather outfits planned in my head, and I’m getting really impatient to wear them 🙂

  1. Floral prints make me so nervous, but you definitely rocked this dress! 😀 It looks great Jennae. That’s one of your outfits I’d love to see done as a mommy-and-me with your little girl since it’s so bright and playful.

    1. Thanks Brooke! I usually stay away from florals too, because it’s tough to find ones that are modern enough for my taste. This one is bold and I just felt great in it. And trust me when I say I have a great idea for a shoot with my daughter that’s coming up soon 🙂

  2. Fun…Let Spring begin!! This dress could also be paired with lady-like pumps for a flirty date night too. This is very pretty on you.

    Burr..bundle up today..it is FREEZING!!

    1. Thanks Shon! I’m definitely keeping this dress around for another opportunity. I’m really glad I shot this yesterday when it was windy and rainy, but not very cold. Because it is frigid today!

  3. i am ga-ga over this look, jennae. i often visit ASOS, but i never know what will work. the shape and pattern and pieces you put with it are making my head spin with ideas. thanks for stepping out and trying something new! love it.

    1. Abby, I actually bought a different dress from them and had to send it back because it was too big. The sizing is definitely a trial an error process, but I’m glad I sent the other one back because I found this beauty. I am surprised at myself, but I love this dress and the way it fit. 🙂

  4. Absolutely adore! You look fabulous. I’m so proud of you and all that you’ve accomplished. Confidence is just flowing from your pictures. Keep up the good work, lady!

  5. i love a girl who can rock a pretty floral print! and this dress hugs you in all the right places and is perfectly paired with the boots for a cold day! thanks so much for stopping by my blog and commenting so i could make my way over to you. nice to meet you and so glad to have found your stylish spot on the web;)

    1. Thanks Channing! Once I decided I wanted a pink cross-body bag, Target was the first place that came to mind, and they didn’t disappoint. They had this one in several colors, and a bunch of other styles too 🙂

    1. Antoinette, you should try it! I never thought I’d like it and that I’d be self-conscious, but the result was the exact opposite. I loved it and I felt comfortable and confident.

I don’t envy anyone in the path of the storm. It’s already freezing in GA today. I don’t think I could handle snow too. I’m just waiting for permanent warm days.

    1. Thanks Kelly! The shape and placement of the pattern are what really drew me to this dress. I’ve taken chances before that didn’t pay off, but I’m glad this one did 🙂

  6. Wow, what a gorgeous dress! Love the awesome pattern and that it’s covering but still totally sexy!

    1. Thank you Jessi! That’s exactly what I love about this dress. There’s no skin showing, but it’s still sexy. That’s my general approach to fashion.

  7. This it so pretty on you! What great colors for Spring but love that you can still wear it when it’s cold. You look fantastic!

    1. Thanks Nic! The fabric is just thick enough with enough coverage to work on a cold day, but I’ll be pulling this baby out again when it gets warm, too.

    1. Thanks Brooke! Both the print and the fit of the dress were both outside my comfort zone, but I don’t regret it for a second 🙂

  8. Beautiful dress, and it looks great on you! You are serving serious model at.ti.tude in every pic 🙂 Also, I agree with you 100% that Atlanta’s weather patterns are suffering from serious multiple personality disorder.

    1. Thanks Joy! The model attitude comment made me laugh. Definitely not my intention. I was just trying not to have a cheesy smile in every pic…lol

  9. LOVE this dress girl! found you on the fashionista next door’s SMF link up. enjoying your blog 🙂
