Have you ever had an outfit that you put together in your head long before you ever got to wear it? I’ve been envisioning this look for weeks, but couldn’t find the “right” time to wear it. This past weekend, I just said screw it and wore it just because. My daughter, hubby and I ran some errands and did a little window shopping at our favorite outdoor mall, and it was perfect for the occasion — meaning no occasion at all.

See, I’m still overcoming the faulty idea that I need a reason to dress well. If I live by that guideline, I’ll NEVER dress up. After all, I work from home with no dress code, so most days, I can just work in my pajamas and call it a day.

But where’s the fun in that, right? I feel so much more alive when I actually make an effort to style an outfit, whether I have somewhere to go or for no reason at all other than I feel like it.

And quite frankly, that should be all it takes. I felt like a million bucks in this outfit. The way the side ruching accentuates my curves and the look of the ruffled scarf and leather jacket, all together, just felt…right.

Fitting, given that the color green represents harmony and balance.

    1. Thanks! As soon as I saw it on the rack, I knew I had to have it! I’m busty, so real wrap dresses never fit right, but this one had a huge overlap.

  1. I can SO relate. I work from home too and have all of these outfits that I come up with but nowhere to go! So I just started wearing them around the house. LOL! You look gorgeous in that dress. Thanks so much for linking up today!

    1. Thanks Alison! Glad to hear I’m not the only one who does that. I *may* even have a list of outfit ideas on my phone… Does that make me crazy?

  2. THIS is great. i’m seeing so much tone on tone in the link up this week and i think this is my favorite example. you look and feel very peaceful and confident in this. thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Thanks Abby! When I first put the jacket with the dress, I wasn’t sure if the two greens would work together, but I wound up loving it because it coordinates without being matchy-matchy 🙂

  3. You look great and what a great attitude! I say, let’s “dress” every day that we can. I love the way the dress accentuates your curves….you own it!!

    Happy Wednesday!

    1. Lol…Daenel, you’re absolutely right. There are so many days when I laze around in my PJs, and I just never really “start” the day, if you know what I mean. Getting up and getting dressed just gives me so much more purpose.

    1. Thanks Chioma! I’d say that easily 50% of my closet is secondhand. This dress and jacket came from a consignment store, which generally has a better selection than your average thift store. It’s one of my favorite places to shop 🙂
