I missed last week’s outfit of the day post because I didn’t have time to shoot an outfit, but I’m back at it this week with a dress I found at my favorite consignment store a while back.
I’ve been dying to wear it for months! This oversized sweater dress has winged sleeves that are attached to the body of the dress and has a banded bottom. The result is a really flattering fit no matter your shape or size.
I usually prefer outfits with a defined waist, since I admit I like my waist-to-hip ratio. This is why I tend to wear belts over tops. A lot π This dress is a definite departure from that, but I like it.
I also styled my natural curls in a twistout for the first time in months, and I have to say I’ve missed it. Though my hair shrinks up a lot, I love that the defined curls still lend themselves to a wild, untamed look.
I finished the look with a silver cuff bracelet my mom gave me and a somewhat Gothic silver ring from Target. I found the leather purse at Goodwill a while back, and while it’s not a real designer bag, as the lining and label would have me believe, the quality of the leather was good enough to make it worth buying anyway.
The boots are quite easily the most comfortable pair I own, with sweater fabric lining the inside. Ignore the fact that my knee socks aren’t exactly even in these pics. Neither I nor my photographer (Ie. My hubby) realized it until it was too late. So close your eyes and pretend they’re both at the same height π
You probably can’t tell from the photos, but it was really, REALLY cold the day we shot these. With temperatures in the 40s, I would’ve been OK in the dress. However, it was also crazy windy, and the wind cut straight through the sweater knit fabric, making 40 degrees feel like 20. It gave my hair an awesome wind-tousled look though…lol. I felt like a Victoria’s Secret model shooting bikini photos in December. I don’t know how they do it. After about 20 minutes in the freezing wind, I couldn’t take it anymore.
Anyway, until next week, see ya!

THIS is a killer outfit and your hair is amazing. I would have been tempted to belt it as well, but it is so flattering and simple this way. You are breezy and beautiful π
Thanks Abby! I think the belt would’ve made it too short to wear without showing my goods all over the place. Hehe!
I love, love your dress! You look fabulous. Great style and pretty hair too.

Thanks for stopping by and for your kind words!
Gorgeous! you look ah-ma-zing! I’m loving the sweater dress, your hair and your confidence!
Thank you Maribel! You always know what to say to make me smile π
You look so gorgeous in your sweater dress. I would LOVE to find one for myself because it looks like it would forgive my mommy mid-sections imperfections. You have a great photographer π
Shelly, the oversized fit is definitely good at hiding anything you want hidden. Except your legs, because it’s pretty short.
And I’ll pass the message on to my hubby. He brings out the best in me when he’s behind the camera π
awesome dress! awesome hair!
Thank you Kirsty!
Your royal flyness! I need this dress in my life!
Sheena, you have a way with words, ma’am! Lmao! I spent the better part of my morning looking for something with a similar cut, but the dress I linked to in the outfit details below the first pic is the closest I could get. I’ll keep looking, because it seems there are a LOT of ladies who’d like something like this π
I love that dress and you look AMAZING in it!
Why thank you Lindsay!
Man, I am so jealous. I love the looks of those, but they always don’t look right on me. A lot of tops don’t because of the severe curve in my upper spine. You look dazzling though!!
Ashley, you might be surprised! The fit is really flattering! Have you tried peplum yet?
I haven’t I need to find somewhere to go so I can try it on. I am so crazy self-conscious. I love shirts and the dresses like that, that have hoods because those sorta hide the curve better.
Oh my I love your hair. This is an amazing dress. Thanks for being part of Wardrobe Weds this week π
Thank you Miriam! I am glad to participate! The Linky is always full of fashion inspiration π
