A few years ago, my family didn’t really get into Halloween. We didn’t really dress up, or go trick or treating, or any of it. But having a kid will change that, and now, we love Halloween. In fact, this year, the whole family is getting dressed up for our annual trick or treating in two local malls. But we’re also seriously considering having a Halloween party. Not a big one, because we don’t have a big apartment, but we’ll probably invite a handful of friends and family to get dressed up and come over. Which means I’ll need to have food and treats on hand. And um…even if I decide to cook, I really don’t feel like baking.
Thankfully, Walmart always has a great selection of ready-made baked goods on hand featuring seasonal designs. This is a plus, because given that I’m trying to lose weight, baking would not be good for me right now. Because whatever I bake, I must sample, and I can’t promise that it would be a small sample.
Of course, we had to sample the treats to make sure they taste as good as they look. I’m pretty proud of myself, because while my daughter and her friend, along with my husband, indulged themselves with one each of a cookie and mini cupcake, I had only a bite of my husband’s. You know. Just to make sure they were edible :)Given my sweet tooth, I’m patting myself for being able to stop after one bite, because they were delicious!
These goodies look pretty awesome laid out on a table too. Surrounded by some inexpensive, but totally reusable Halloween decor, it will look like I spent a whole lot more time on the table and the treats than I really did. Which is a good thing 🙂 When the time comes to deck out our party, it’s great to know I’ll be able to find Halloween-themed treats so I won’t have to bake any myself.
