My husband and I were both born and raised in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and we love our little island hometown. Living in Atlanta means that we can get Caribbean food from a variety of restaurants and go to a reggae club every now and again, but there’s nothing quite like carnival and celebrating it with thousands of other people who miss it as much as you do. The Atlanta Caribbean carnival is held yearly during Memorial Day weekend, and my family always looks forward to it.
This year, my husband, daughter and I, along with my sisters and nieces, went to the parade and a picnic specifically for Virgin Islanders. Plus, my hubby and I did a little partying without the rest of the family. Suffice it to say we had a great time.
I’ve been promising myself that I’ll start documenting more of life’s everyday moments here at Green & Gorgeous, so this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Here are some scenes from our carnival experience.
I somehow managed to go the whole weekend with just a single photo of my husband.
