Green Bling for Your Wrist: WeWood Watches (on Sale!)

I bought my husband an eco-friendly-ish watch for Christmas, but after seeing these I’m beginning to wish I’d waited.

I recently discovered these beautiful watches by WeWood. As the name would imply, these hypo-allergenic watches are made entirely of wood, with the exception of the Miyota movement. And for every they sell, WeWood works in partnership with American Forests to plant a tree.

The watches are available in a variety of styles and wood types, from maple and ebony to Guaiaco. Some of the wood they use is reclaimed from manufacturing waste. You’d expect for wood to look really masculine. While some of the watches are a little on the manly side, many of the designs would be perfectly at home on a woman’s wrist (as you can see above).

I could nitpick about the fact that the wood doesn’t appear to be FSC-certified, but I’m still impressed with what they have done. These would make a great gift for your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day too (and here are some more green gift ideas).

If you love these watches as much as I do, you’ll be happy to hear that they are currently on sale at Ideeli. You can get 45% off WeWood’s regular prices on three different watch styles by shopping the sale! But you have to be fast. The sale ends tomorrow (2/9/11)!

NOTE: If you’re not yet a member of Ideeli, you must sign up to take advantage of this deal. Signing up is free. Once you sign up and log in, roll over “Women’s” in the top navigation menu. Click “WeWood.”

Why It’s Green:

  • Watches made of wood, with no toxic chemicals added
  • Some of the wood used is reclaimed from manufacturing
  • For every watch sold, WeWood plants a tree

Price: $70-80 at Ideeli through 2/9/11; Regularly $119-139 directly from WeWood

  1. Hey there – I have never heard of WeWood watches. I personally own a JORD Wood watch, and am looking for different flavors in the wood watch space.

I will for sure check this out! Thanks for sharing!
