MyPunchbowl.com: Bigger, Better Online Invites (+Giveaway)

I’ve never been big on entertaining, and the only parties I’ve hosted over the past few years have been for my daughter’s birthdays. That said, I’ve been doing some virtual party planning lately, like the Twitter launch party I held for Green & Gorgeous, and it’s essential for me to have a great resource for online invitations.

Evite.com was once my go-to site, but as a graphic designer, I found that there is little flexibility when I try to create and customize my own invitations. As much as I love beautiful stationery, I’d much rather send out paperless electronic invites, but I want them to look just a good as printed invitations. So when I learned about MyPunchbowl.com, a site that offers virtual party planning and online invites, I jumped at the chance to review a premium membership.

What makes MyPunchbowl unique is that the invitations are truly comparable to their printed counterparts. You can select backgrounds that mimic real paper, select colors, fonts, add your own photos or images in a variety of dimensions.  That last detail gives me the potential to design a main invitation image that could really make the design custom, perhaps branded with my logos or using a photo of myself or loved ones. That is not to suggest the available designs aren’t great, because they are. In fact, they are beautiful, and really head and shoulders above anything else I’ve seen online. But I love the idea that I can make the design my own if I so choose.

Beyond invites, MyPunchbowl allows you to plan a party from start to finish. You can send out invites, save the dates, or even get help deciding on a date. You can set up a potluck list, a Amazon gift registry, include a map, request contributions by PayPal or credit card, send out reminders, and post your Invitation on Facebook, Twitter, or a blog. And this is just the beginning. I was really impressed by how comprehensive the system is.

Why It’s Green:

  • Electronic invites eliminate the need for paper, postage and shipping

Price: FREE or $49.95 for a 1-year premium membership
